Love em or hate them, there are plenty of them out there.
Personally I'm not a big fan, for obvious reasons. That being said they have their place, and so long as they stay in it I'm all for them.
I have no problem with anyone who wants to learn and increase their knowledge and scope of abilities, it's the ones who know SFA but aren't smart enough to realise it that get me going!
What peeves me off no end is when these "experts" start spouting their "knowledge" to businesses claiming it to be the final word on any given subject.
The business owner who knows even less about IT has little choice but to take his hired "experts" advice, somtimes with tragic results. Usually at some point the business owner realises his mistake and hires a real pro who has to try to sort the mess out and explain the many and varied ways the system is now totally screwed and justify the cost of rebuilding it from scratch.
Back yard guys should stick to fixing Mr Smiths spyware issues, or showing Mrs Smith how to get her Email and let us pro's do the server stuff and the serious networking!
Yes there is a story behind this rant. No, I can't elaborate.
There....Now I feel better :-)
